Eek! I’m so excited this project turned out how I hoped it would!
Madeline’s new room has a little bit of a heart theme so when I saw this on Pinterest a few months ago I thought it would be perfect for her wall.

Unfortunately, I never could figure out where it originated from, exactly, since there was no link back to the original creator.
So I decided to try my own.
And since I’m not very artistic I was pretty much prepared for failure.
But guess what?
It actually turned out okay!
It wasn’t that hard, either, just a little bit time-consuming.
Luckily, I had plenty of time to work on it while waiting for coats of pink paint to dry on the walls.
(BTW, no more mauve = happy momma!)
First, I painted my canvas panel (11×14, but in retrospect 8×10 would have worked better).
Second, while the background was drying, I created a document for my template.
Then, I painstakingly cut the letters out using my trusty x-acto knife and attached it to the canvas using re-positionable glue (which I found at Michaels for .49 on clearance a few months back. Score!)
Finally, I painted several very thin layers of acrylic paint, let it dry for a bit, then peeled back the stencil, and voila!
My stencil was an 8×10 so it probably would look a little better if I had used that size of canvas, but I’m still pretty happy with it overall.
I didn’t paint the reference on, either, although I’m still debating on adding that.
Since I was pretty worried that it would be a failure I saved my document so I could use that in a frame instead.
It’d be a much easier alternative, so I thought I’d share it here in case anyone wants a copy. :)
