I’m not really big on decorating my house for every holiday.
I’ve thought about being like that.
But then by the time I’ve come up with some ideas…the holiday is over.
Maybe someday when I’m more organized and stuff.
Ahem.
Still, on occasion I see something that I just have to try, and when I saw this banner I thought it was too cute to not attempt myself.
Found on Pinterest, of course. :)
I had all the supplies on hand and it ended up being a pretty easy project.
Here’s what you’ll need if you want to try it yourself:
Burlap (you won’t need much – 1/4 to 1/2 yard)
Twine
Book pages (I used a Portuguese dictionary)
Sewing machine and thread (optional)
First, cut your burlap into 6″x5″ squares.
I cut seven of them, then cut the bottom line to a point.
Then cut hearts from your book/dictionary pages and glue them to your burlap.
I like the look of the stitching so I sewed them on, but the glue would hold the hearts on just fine.
Then cut a piece of twine to the desired length of your banner.
I cut mine to 84″ and spaced the pennants about 4″ apart.
Turn the top edge over the twine and sew down.
See?
Super simple!
I love the unfinished edges of the burlap and that it doesn’t have to be used strictly for Valentines Day.
Pretty cute, right?

Great DIY Valentine burlap banner. Thank you for the awesome tutorial.
I shared this post on DIY best posts.
I have had trouble in the past sewing burlap…i am a very inexperienced sewer….is there a particular thread, needle or setting to get stitching like this?!
