For the final week of adding fun dress-up items to my girls wardrobe I made a very pink, very girly, princess-y cape.

I didn’t take any photos of the process, but here’s a brief rundown if you’d like to make your own.

1 yard of fabric
1 yard of satin ribbon
2 yards of pom trim
1 yard of feather trim

First I cut the fabric to 32×36 inches and hemmed the short ends and one long end, rounding the corners of the shorter ends (32″).
Fold the un-hemmed long edge down one inch and cut slits in the fabric about 1 inch apart.
Unfold the fabric and weave the ribbon through the slots and gather the fabric together.
Knot the ribbon at the edges of the fabric to keep it from pulling through the slits.
Sew pom trim along the hemmed edges.
Hot glue fur trim along top slitted edge.

Put it on your excited little princess.

Or on the not-so-excited princess…

Seriously, the more outlandish and gaudy something is, the more this child loves it.
Which is why I was assured of winning with this creation. ;)
