Most of our summer in Texas goes something like this:

So the minute it starts cooling off we run out to do the things we’ve been wanting to do all summer, but just couldn’t bring ourselves to do in the heat.

This week it’s been filled with more 100+ scorchers, but a couple weeks ago we had a few days that were pleasant enough to venture out.

My girlies and I took the opportunity to go on a nature scavenger hunt.
I found a printable list here and we had a lot of fun with it.

The littles with their treasures

The list was great for helping kids learn to pay attention to the world around them!
Some examples: something straight, something smooth, something green, litter (don’t worry I didn’t let them pick up anything gross!), different types of seeds, things they thought were beautiful, etc.
The only thing we didn’t find on the list was a pine cone.
Whatever, Texas.

As it gets cooler, we’ll definitely be doing this one again.
